![Custom Animatronic Importer (CANIMI)[Early Access] preview](/images/mods/catalog/44228/677757.jpg)
Saved description
Hey there! Do you like the flexibility of the Custom Guards, how you can just drag in a file and it imports it? Convenient right? Even more so when you realize all the custom animatronics, offices, and other mods are .xdelta files... so, this mod aim to take that convenience and put it to Custom Animatronics! This is the Custom Animatronic Importer, CANIMI for short, a mod that makes folders able to be created of custom animatronics and they'll be imported into the game seamlessly!
IMPORTANT EARLY ACCESS REMINDER!!!
Now, that's what this HOPES to become, this is Early Access, which means there's going to be bugs, often game breaking ones, and stuff may not reflect the finished product just yet, not to mention stuff is going to be updated here a LOT. Keep posted on any problems you find and what patches (or content) comes after!
Without further ado, let's address a few questions you may have.
What comes with it?
There's a giant list here for you to see:
Animatronics in Salvage Locations (backdoor trading only for now)
Animatronics in the Custom Night
Animatronics within the Nights
Extras Menu Entries
Custom Dialogue
"Programmable" Mechanics (that work in game!)
Custom Custom Night Challenges
and more to come!
How does it work?
Simple! Patch the .xdelta to download here onto a vanilla data.win of Frickbears 3 using Undertale Mod Tool (or use the Simple FB3 Modder). It won't be explained exactly how to do that here, but there's a bunch of tutorials online. Then, run the game. It'll initialize everything, and next to your "addons" folder, you'll see "animatronics". Then, just take a folder that was made with CANIMI compatibility, and pop it into the animatronics folder. The mod will do the rest, so long as it was programmed by the creator correctly (with some exceptions)!
What if I wanted to make one myself?
Attached to this mod is a fully functional animatronic made with a bunch of READ MEs for you to follow. It's recommended you have previous experience making animatronic mods before since it makes making these animatronics easier, but in the future I hope to make this more friendly to non-coders. It should be said that not all animatronic mechanics can be done yet with how the mechanics work, but that also will be fixed in the future.
Also, if you wanna know the documentation of the mechanics, it's been moved to here rather than a READ ME file.
What about existing animatronics like Triple Trouble Trio? Or future stuff like Toppin Monsters?
Unfortunately, they will not work with this mod without the proper folder made with CANIMI compatibility, this mod will NOT work with .xdelta files. Plus, a lot of them have mechanics that don't yet work with the mechanics available. I plan to fix this, but if any specific modders wish to eventually port their animatronics, feel free at any time to look at the mechanics available, look at your animatronic, and DM me what mechanics I would need to add for your porting.
So what animatronics can I use with this?
As of now, 2! They'll be posted as custom animatronics shortly if they aren't up yet, but there's one for cameras and doors, and the other for pointing and clicking in the office. They are both made by me, using some form of asset likely from another game/media. They're fully functional, so until people start making some CANIMI animatronics, have fun with those!
What about some known issues with the mod?
There is only 1, but as of the launch of this I've fixed 3, the rest I'm already aware of. These don't really break the game, but should be kept in mind.
A Custom Animatronic Was Salvaged Twice
Only happens with animatronics that get inserted into nights. It's something to do with restarting or not restarting? I'm not sure, but it's inconsistent for me.
SOLUTION:
Ignore it. It only affects the game visually, not mechanically.
Am I Allowed To Make CANIMI Animatronics and Post Them As Mods?
Yes! So long as you aren't blatantly copying anything someone else made (including me), I encourage you to make your own! Just make sure to specify that the animatronic is CANIMI compatible, but otherwise, have fun with the mod, make your own folders, and more to CANIMI is coming soon, so stay posted!
A Found A Bug! Where can I report it?
The issues tab, if you'd please. It makes my life easier and means people don't tell me about the same redundant issue over and over. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
My Issue was deleted!
Okay look, your feedback is appreciated whole heartedly, but once a patch/update is released, I'll go through the issues tab and either A. leave your issue open because it's unfixed B. close your issue because it was fixed C. delete the issue because it was a non-issue and probably something you did wrong and/or intentional.
Tutorial? Instructions?
...
yea, um, I'm doing the best I can to clarify everything I can myself since my READ MEs are not nearly enough apparently. Otherwise?... you're on your own, sorry.
Before installing
- Keep an untouched copy of the current game before replacing any file.
- Check the archive contents and version before combining it with another mod.
- Test one package at a time so a broken or conflicting change can be rolled back.
